Marko Blagojevic appointed head of office for reconstruction

BELGRADE - The Serbian government on Thursday instructed the relevant public enterprises to start the reconstruction of damaged roads and bridges within the next seven days, appointing Marko Blagojevic as head of the Office for reconstruction and aid for the flooded regions.

Assessing information on the condition of road infrastructure in regions hit by floods and landslides, the government said that the road and railway infrastructures have sustained significant damage, and that elaboration of rehabilitation plans and programmes needs to be expedited, said a statement from the government press office.

The directors of Roads of Serbia, Corridors of Serbia, Serbian Railways and the Srbijavode and Beogradvode water management companies - who all attended the government session to present reports on the condition of infrastructure - were told to muster all capabilities, carry out preparations and start reconstructing the damaged roads and bridges within seven days.

The government decided that disinsection from the air in flood-hit regions be carried out in cooperation with Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the statement said.
