Ivanovic eases past Svitolina

PARIS - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic reached the third round of the Roland Garros Grand Slam tennis tournament on Thursday by beating Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 7-5, 6-2.

Ivanovic eased past her second opponent in Paris with a good performance that suggested that she might go far at the tournament.

She will face a more difficult task in her bid to reach the fourth round, as she will take on Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic, who beat Australia's Casey Dellacqua 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.

Safarova, the current world number 24, has a 4-2 head-to-head record against Ivanovic.
