FAP starts manufacturing trucks for Serbian Armed Forces

PRIBOJ - More than 600 employees of the Priboj-based FAP are officially in a paid leave status by the end of June but the company's management engaged around one hundred of them in the manufacture of ten FAP 1118 trucks for the needs of Serbian Armed Forces and the preparation of the factory's takeover by the Finnish SISU Auto.

"The vehicles for the Serbian army will be completed by the end of the month, and the contract is worth EUR 750,000," head of the company Zoran Zakovic told Tanjug.

FAP trucks proved to be excellent for army purposes and successfully replaced the Slovenian TAMs, the main vehicles used in the army of former Yugoslavia.

A number of administration employees are working to prepare the company for the acquisition by SISU Auto, and have the largest heavy commercial vehicles maker in the Balkans ready for the takeover procedure, set to begin in late August, Zakovic said.
