Russian energy giant Gazprom has booked the entire capacity tendered by the Hungarian side of the Arad - Szeged gas pipeline, chairman of the Chamber of Deputies' Committee for Industries and Services Iulian Iancu told a conference on energy this Monday.

As for the names of the companies that booked capacity on the Romanian side of the pipeline, Transgaz general manager Petru Vaduva said they are confidential.

"We signed quarterly contracts, but we cannot make the companies' names public, because of the confidentiality clause in the contract. We will ask that upon the renewal of the contracts the confidentiality clause is removed," said Vaduva.

In turn, Iulian Iancu remarked that it isn't normal for the names of the companies that booked capacity in the Arad-Szeged pipeline to be confidential.

According to sources close to the business, OMV Petrom, MOL and Gazprom are among these companies.

For the time being, only gas flowing from Hungary to Romania can be transported through this pipeline, but the Romanian state plans to invest as much as 160 million euros in the works required to create a two-way flow of gas.

In order to carry out this interconnection, Transgaz intends to access European funds made available under the 2014 — 2020 financial framework. AGERPRES
