Coal mine collapse in eastern Turkey

One worker was trapped under wreckage when a coal mine collapsed in the southeastern province of Şırnak earlier on June 3.

The mine collapsed due to an unknown reason at around 12:30 p.m.

A search and rescue team has been sent to the scene.

Turkey is still working to heal the wounds of the Soma disaster in which 301 workers lost their lives on May 13 in the deadliest mine accident in the country’s history.
