AGERPRES National News Agency has a correspondent in Rome, Italy starting from this week, based on a recent partnership agreement with the Emigrantul (The Emigrant) publication.

'One of the goals we set ourselves for this year is the increase of the number of AGERPRES correspondents in Europe's top capitals. Italy was among our first options, as a significant Romanian community lives there. We are also considering a cut of the agency's expenditure related to the salary of a paid correspondent. This is one of the steps taken by AGERPRES to get closer to the Romania diaspora, following the partnerships with the Arthis Association of Belgium and FEDROM in Spain, which we hope to further consolidate. By this, we also help the Romanian press abroad, with benefits for the National News Agency, too,' said AGERPRES General Director Alexandru Giboi.

The new correspondent of AGERPRESS will work without a financial compensation.

AGERPRES tried to cut the additional costs resulting from the salary and administrative expenses, as it currently tries to extend its correspondents network abroad, without adding pressure on its budget. The agency's strategy also aims at entering into partnerships with publications of the Romanian communities abroad, allowing the Romanian diaspora to get professional and balanced media services.AGERPRES
