PSD's Dragnea: Ponta, a 'highly credible' and 'strong' presidential candidate

Executive chairman of the ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea considers that party leader Victor Ponta makes a "highly credible" and "strong" candidate for President of Romania.

Dragnea said on Thursday in Botosani (northeastern Romania) that PSD won't come up with a surprise candidate in the presidential elections due this autumn.

"It seems to me that Victor Ponta is a highly credible and strong candidate I personally trust very much. PSD usually does not come up with surprises and does not shoot from the hip, so to say. PSD is a serious, well-balanced party that is not led by adventurers, like elsewhere," said Dragnea.

Liviu Dragnea on Thursday visited the Sofian House, a landmark building in the city of Botosani, at the invitation of Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina, His Holiness Teofan. AGERPRES
