Greece sought Vodafone customers' details, telecom company says
Greek authorities have made more than 8,000 requests for customers details from Vodafone, the worlds second-largest mobile phone company revealed on Friday.
Vodafone said in a new report that government agencies in six unidentified countries use its network to listen to and record customers calls. It revealed that of the countries in which it operates, Italy made the most requests (almost 750,000) for communication data. In comparison, Greece submitted 8,602 requests for what Vodafone termed national metadata and national content.
Vodafone runs mobile and broadband operations in 27 countries and works with partners in 49 more. It said it had received requests for customer details in 29 countries.
