Third shipment of Israeli humanitarian aid reaches Serbia

BELGRADE - The Embassy of Israel in Serbia handed over the aid in sanitation materials, aimed to reduce the flood damage, to Serbia's Ministry of Health on Friday.

This is the third shipment of humanitarian aid sent from Israel to Serbia in response to the government appeal during the disastrous floods that swept through Serbia last month.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Berislav Vekic recalled that the first shipment of Israeli aid contained rescue boats, rubber boots, raincoats, blankets and other emergency supplies, while the second consisted of water pumps and power generators.

Health Ministry is in daily contact with Serbian embassies abroad and expects that the help of friends will continue to come, noted Vekic.

Consul at the Embassy of Israel to Serbia Sigalit Shay expressed hope that after three humanitarian shipments, new relief supplies would be sent to help reduce the impact of the floods.

The Jewish tradition is to help friends in need, and Israel certainly sees Serbia as a good friend. As always, we are doing everything we can to help Serbia, Israeli Consul said.
