Gasic: Allegations that army is not equipped refuted

TITEL - The River Flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces staged a live fire exercise on the Tisa River near Titel on Wednesday, after which Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic stated that this exercise has refuted the allegations that the army lacks funds and technical equipment.

Gasic told reporters that the exercise was carried out very successfully showing a high level of operative and functional capabilities of the Serbian Army.

"It is my great pleasure that the members of the Serbian Armed Forces are showing a high level of expertise. I congratulate them on this successful exercise," Gasic said, and thanked River Flotilla Commander Andrija Andric.

The minister said that modernization of the River Flotilla, as well as that of the Air Force, will continue, adding that a greater number of aircrafts will be operating in coordination with other units of the Serbian Army.

The exercise was supervised by Chief-of-staff Ljubisa Dikovic aboard the Kozara command ship along with members of the Collegium, brigade commanders and officials of local self-governments.
