Greek companies offer around RSD 21 million in aid

BELGRADE - Members of the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia have so far provided RSD 20.955 million worth of aid for the victims of recent floods in Serbia, the Greek embassy in Serbia has said.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation has announced that it will join the relief efforts for flood-hit regions in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and its board of directors has approved a EUR 300,000 donation.

Greek companies operating in Serbia immediately joined the relief efforts, the embassy said on Tuesday.

The companies are Alpha Bank, AXA Insurance, EKO Serbia, Eurobank, Excelsior Hotel, Grand Casino, Intracom Telecom, Mellon Serbia, Piraeus Bank, Titan cementara Kosjeric and Vojvodjanska banka.

The efforts will not stop as many members of the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia plan to send additional aid.

In support of ongoing relief campaigns conducted in the region by European and world organisations, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation is providing immediate and significant assistance to the residents of the flood-hit regions.

The Greek embassy is maintaining contact with the foundation to find a suitable way of distributing relief aid in Serbia.

On June 9, a Greek charity organisation shipped relief aid to the flood-hit population of Obrenovac and was also scheduled to deliver aid to Krupanj on Tuesday.
