Stefanovic asks about results of visit to Germany

BELGRADE - It is good that Serbia's relations with Germany have improved, but we have not heard Berlin's views on a number of issues of interest to the Serbian public, Democratic Party (DS) member of the Serbian parliament Borislav Stefanovic has told reporters.

During Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic's visit to Germany, Serbia did not hear Berlin's opinion concerning Serbia's stance on Ukraine, the implementation of the Brussels agreement and the Kosovo issue, Stefanovic explained.

Serbia has not even learned about Germany's view concerning the failure to implement certain standards regarding media freedom, censorship and other issues in the country, he stated.

"Those details remained in the shadow of sentences like: We want Germany as a partner or we have received support for the steps wie have taken," Stefanovic pointed out.

Commenting on Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Serbia, he said it was marked by the controversy of whether the government had implemented its own decision to impose sanctions on Belarus, thereby joining the sanctions imposed by the EU.

"If our govenrment did not do that, it is very odd, because those sanctions include denying Belarus officials entry into Serbia," Stefanovic remarked.

When asked if the decision had been made by a government that included the DS, he responded that at the time it had been Serbia's way of supporting resolutions that condemned violations of human rights in Belarus, and that the later governments, led by Ivica Dacic and Aleksandar Vucic, had continued the policy and should have rationalised the sanctions against Belarus.
