Ukrainians to Build Aqua Park in Montenegro

Aqualand Montenegro, the Montenegrin arm of a Ukrainian chain of amusement parks, announced on Monday that the eight-million-euro water park, which will also have a dolphinarium, will be built by the summer of 2016.

The park will be constructed on the site of a former illegal waste dump near the coastal town of Kotor and will employ about 200 workers. The company said it already has the support of the local authorities.

“This investment is not only good for our company, but also for the town of Kotor and Montenegro. It is a new form of attractive tourist offer, and is hiring local workers as well,” the company said in a statement on Monday.

After relations between Montenegro and Russia cooled and Podgorica joined EU sanctions against Moscow over the annexation of Crimea, the Balkan country has said that it plans to intensify cooperation with Kiev and attract more Ukrainian investment.

Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic will travel to Ukraine on Friday to discuss diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the official visit to Kiev, Djukanovic will also meet Ukrainian businessmen interested in investing in Montenegro.
