Events dedicated to commemoration of poet Mihai Eminescu in Bucharest

A series of events dedicated to commemorating Mihai Eminescu including a religious memorial service, laying of wreaths and flowers, shows and reverential conferences will take place on Sunday and Monday in the Capital, Bucharest.

Sunday, June 15, on the date of the national poet's death, the Cultural League for the Unity of Romanians Everywhere, in partnership with the Alistar and Dignitas foundations, are organizing several events bringing homage to the poet.

They will include a religious memorial service at the grave of the poet in Bellu Cemetery, laying of wreaths and flowers at the monument that stands in front of the Romanian Atheneum, in the accompaniment rendered by the Military Fanfare. Furthermore, the album titled "Eminescu — 125 years of immortality", edited by Victor Craciun and Cristiana Craciun, is to be presented during an event that will also see the awarding of the Jubilee Medal.

In the same commemorative tone, also on Sunday, yet in the Rotunda of the National Romanian Literature Museum, literary historian Nicolae Georgescu will conduct the conference titled "Novelties in the first edition of Eminescu".

Furthermore, a solemn session dedicated to commemorating national poet Mihai Eminescu is to take place in the Auditorium of the Romanian Academy.

The event titled "125 years after Mihai Eminescu", organized by the Romanian Academy and the National Foundation for Science and Arts, will see the attendance of: Ionel-Valentin Vlad, chairman of the Romanian Academy; Mircea Dumitru, rector of the University of Bucharest; Dan Berindei, honorary chairman of the Historical Sciences and Archeology Department of the Romanian Academy; Ioan-Aurel Pop, rector of Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and...
