Bulgarian MP Delyan Peevski Question in Sofia Prosecution

Bulgaria's Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) MP Delyan Peevski was summoned for questioning by the Sofia Investigative Service.

Peevski spent over 2 hours in the Sofia City Prosecution on Tuesday, where he was called up on two different issues.

One is the signal of the "Protest Network" for involvement in an organized criminal group. The signal is also against the leader of the newly-formed Bulgaria without Censorship party, Nikolay Barekov. The Prosecution also revealed that it had already questioned 12 employees of Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB) and also plans to do so with its director Tsvetan Vasilev, once he returns from his travels abroad. No official details about the nature of the investigation were released.

The other reason for Peevski's summoning is an alleged murder plot against him, for which 3 persons were arrested last week, but released soon after, on accounts of lacking evidence.

"If they (the Prosecution) are dealing with the Protest Network, which is a corporate organization serving Ivo Prokopiev (a publishing tycoon), then he must also be here, as there have been many signals against him in the past", Peevski said upon leaving the Prosecution building.

Regarding the topic of his planned assassination, Peevski was laconic.

"If all this talk about me being in control of the judiciary were true, do you think these people plotting to kill me would be set free?"
