Djokovic to be top seed at Wimbledon

LONDON - Serbia's highest-ranking male tennis player Novak Djokovic will be the top seed at this year's Wimbledon, the organisers announced on Wednesday.

As the top favourite to win the tournament, Djokovic has been seeded ahead of world number one Rafael Nadal of Spain.

Nadal is followed by Andy Murray (Great Britain), Roger Federer (Switzerland) and Stanislas Wawrinka (Switzerland).

Serena Williams (United States) is the top seed at the women's tournament, followed by Li Na (China), Simona Halep (Romania), Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland) and Maria Sharapova (Russia).

Serbia's highest-ranking female tennis player Jelena Jankovic has been seeded seventh, with compatriot Ana Ivanovic seeded 11th.

Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia) and Daniel Nestor (Canada) will be the third seeds at the men's doubles tournament, behind top favourites Mike and Bob Bryan (United States) and the Australian-Brazilian pair of Alexander Peya/Bruno Soares.

Wimbledon starts on June 23 and will last until July 6.
