ForMin Corlatean reiterates Romania's support for Israel, Palestine peaceful coexistence

Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Titus Corlatean at a meeting with Israel's ambassador in Bucharest Dan Ben-Eliezer on Wednesday reiterated Romania's support for a solution allowing the Israeli and Palestinian states to coexist in peace and security, the foreign ministry said in a release to AGERPRES.

The Romanian top diplomat also underscored the importance of resuming the direct talks with a view to obtaining a solution to be accepted by both sides — Israeli and Palestinian respectively, the release added.

During the meeting, the two officials evoked the very good phase in the relations of Romania and Israel both at a political level and in certain sectors and they reiterated their respective states' wish to keep on the upward trend of the bilateral cooperation.

'Emphasis was placed on the two sides' interest in capitalising on the special and complex bilateral relation, which boasts 66 years of uninterrupted history as well as on Romania's interest to advance towards a strategic dimension of such relation, with additional stress on the economic sector of the bilateral cooperation,' the release said.

Corlatean and Ben-Eliezer swapped views of the recent regional developments, with emphasis on the Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood, the Middle East Peace Process included, the ministry said.AGERPRES
