Law to repair consequences of floods soon

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic stated on Friday that the government will soon present the draft law on repair of the consequences of recent floods.

“The law on recovery of the country which should accelerate the repair of the damages after the floods will be discussed in the government very soon, after which it will be forwarded to the parliament for adoption,” Mihajlovic told Radio Television of Serbia.

She noted that the law would accelerate the repair of roads, houses, public facilities and schools damaged in the severe floods that recently hit Serbia.

Expert teams are examining the terrain and public facilities, and the next two months should be spent on recovery of the country, Mihajlovic noted and added that everyone in the government is already involved in the task.

The minister announced the construction of 50 kilometres of roads in the course of the year and the repair of 1,100 kilometres of most used sections in the next three years.

The national strategy for traffic safety should be competed soon which will, together with a better road infrastructure, contribute to higher safety on roads and reduced frequency of traffic accidents in Serbia, Mihajlovic said.
