Investigation into alleged drug lord's property

BELGRADE -- A police working group will investigate "everything related to the origin of property of Dragoslav Kosmajac," Interior Minister Nebojša Stefanović has said.

Speaking later on Wednesday, he specified that the working group will also look into "suspicions that he worked with some police officials."

"We have agreed with the police chief to officially form a working group today to investigate everything related to the origin of his property and everything else the police thinks could be useful, that is indications towards potentially uncovering a crime," Stefanović said.

"All the investigations we have started so far have thoroughly shaken some systems that have existed for years and have shown that not all things are as simple as they seem at first," he told a news conference.

"We will complete everything we start, and while I am the minister, we will investigate everything fully," Stefanović noted.

Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said recently that Kosmajac was "the top norcotics dealer in Serbia and that there were people in the police who were in contact with him."

Kosmajac then traveled to Montenegro, whose police said earlier in the week they received no request for his arrest.

The media reported that he entered that country using travel documents issued by Slovakia and on Wednesday, Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kalinak announced that Kosmajac's Slovak passport was declared invalid.

According to a TASR news agency report, the police looked into the file and "determined certain shortcomings, and even manipulations."
