Djokovic beats Simon despite injury

LONDON - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic qualified for the fourth round of the Wimbledon ATP as he defeated Gilles Simon of France in the third round match on Friday, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

Djokovic achieved his seventh consequent win and his first victory against Simon after two hours and a quarter into the match.

With the upper hand against his opponent at 3-2 in the third set, the Serbian player fell down awkwardly and suffered an injury to his left shoulder.

After a short break and a medical timeout, Djokovic completed the match with success and justified his title as the expected winner.

In the next round, Djokovic will cross rackets with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France who beat Jimmy Wang of Chinese Taipei, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5.

Djokovic and Tsonga crossed rackets in 17 matches so far and the Serbian player has the upper hand with the score at 12-5, and he has also won the previous eight matches against the French player.

Djokovic and Tsonga played in the fourth round of Roland Garros this year when Djokovic drew a convincing victory, 6-1, 6-4, 6-1.
