Vucic: This is more than just scale model

BELGRADE - The master plan of the Belgrade on Water project was officially presented in Belgrade on Friday and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said that this is more than just a scale model, announcing that the Belgrade tower as the symbol of the project would be completed by the end of 2016.

Vucic expressed gratitude to investor from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohamed Alabbar and said that he is thrilled because, once completed, this would be one of the most beautiful sites in the world.
“This building is not just a scale model, if you take a better look, it looks like a museum exhibit,” Vucic said presenting the project in the refurbished Geozavod building (Geological Research Institute).

Vucic said that 300 people from Serbia participated in the realisation of the project to date, and added that costs in this stage of the project would considerably exceed the originally planned USD 2.5 million.

Listing the facilities within the Belgrade on Water, the prime minister said that the first stage of construction, including a shopping mall, would begin in spring 2015, and called on Alabbar for the Belgrade tower to be completed by the end of 2016.
“This site will make Belgrade the best tourist destination,” Vucic said.

Vucic said that he is proud to say that investors are very satisfied with the engagement of Serbian workers and that the limited liability company Belgrade Waterfront has already been founded, while a joint company of Serbia and its Arab partners will be set up soon.

Addressing investor Alabbar, Vucic said:
”As a country, we owe a great deal to you and the only way we can possibly repay this is through our sincere gratitude and respect.”
