National Liberal Party (PNL) Interim Chairman Klaus Iohannis on Saturday said that the Liberals' objective is winning the presidential elections and coming back at rule.

"Our major long-term objective is to give Romania a Liberal decade, which will be for Romania a period of rule of law consolidation and of economic prosperity and will lead our country to the European states' level. In view to reaching this objective, he have two stage goals to achieve: winning the presidential elections and coming back at rule, as main political force," shows Klaus Iohannis' motion as candidate to the PNL chairmanship called "For a decade of Liberalism, prosperity and rule of law," which he presented in the PNL Congress meeting.

Iohannis' political programme also provides that PNL fundamentally opposes the Left Wing and, in the current political context, on short-term, a collaboration with the Social Democratic Party (PSD) is ruled out. At the same time, the governments PNL wants to create do not have in view a coalition with PSD.

Concerning the future president of Romania, Iohannis believes he should be a mediator.

Iohannis backs the affiliation of PNL to EPP and regarding domestic matters he proposes the support for the justice independence and the constant supply of a 2 per cent of the GDP annual funding for defence. AGERPRES
