Obrenovac: Construction of first houses begins

OBRENOVAC - The contract on the construction of first 10 houses was signed in Obrenovac on Saturday and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said that in the next 15 days, construction of new houses would also begin in other areas hit by recent floods.

The contract was signed by Managing Board Director of the Blic Foundation Tijana Bajovic, Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali and Director of the Serbian government Office for Recovery and Aid for the Flooded Areas Marko Blagojevic.

All those whose houses were destroyed will get new homes, Vucic said.

He noted that the government would fund the construction of all destroyed houses, 14 of which are situated in Obrenonovac, and the building of 50 more houses will be funded by friends from the United Arab Emirates.

Between 600 and 800 houses were destroyed in the floods and the construction works should be completed by October so that the people could get adequate accommodation before winter, Vucic said.

Vucic expressed the belief that although it is not easy to make everything the way it used to be before, Obrenovac citizens and all other people from flood-hit areas would be satisfied with the work done by the government.

Vucic said that between 600 and 800 houses were destroyed in the floods and underscored that the construction of new homes would be completed by October.

The construction of first ten prefabricated houses in Obrenovac should be completed by the end of August.
