Bulgaria's Energy Watchdog to Announce Price Changes

Bulgaria's energy watchdog (DKEVR) will discuss and set price changes for natural gas, electricity and central heating and hot water, to come into effect on July 1. 

It is expected that the price of natural gas will be decreased by 2.47% to BGN 597.69 without excise duty and VAT for 1000 cubic meters. 

DKEVR is planning an average of 10% hike of the price for central heating and hot water, as, according to its plans, the thermal power plants must decrease the price of electricity they generate. 
Representatives of the thermal power plants, which provide central heating objected to the price hike of the service and claimed this would lead to a mass customer exodus and some of the companies might go bankrupt. 

At the same time the price of electricity is expected to decrease by around 1%. 

DKEVR, however, warned that the electricity prices might start growing in October, because of the deficit of the National Electricity Company (NEK).
