Justice ministers sign annex to memorandum of cooperation

BELGRADE – Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic and his Montenegrin counterpart Dusko Markovic have signed in Podgorica an annex to the memorandum of cooperation between the respective ministries of the two countries.

Selakovic said on the occasion that the successful cooperation between the Justice Ministries of Serbia and Montenegro could serve as a model for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the region, the Serbian Ministry of Justice said in a release on Monday.

With this annex, we undertook to intensify and further improve cooperation in the fields of international judicial cooperation in civil and criminal matters, European integration, judicial reform and enforcement of penal sanctions, Selakovic said after the signing of the document yesterday.

Montenegrin Justice Minister Dusko Markovic, who also serves as deputy prime minister, said that the signing of the annex confirmed the very good and intensive cooperation between the two countries’ ministries.

It will ensure establishment of direct communication between the two countries’ justice departments at various levels, but the most important thing is that it will define the manner and modalities of exchange of experiences and practices when it comes to the entire negotiation process with the EU, said Markovic.

Our cooperation has led to successful activities in the fight against organized crime in the region, he added.

The Serbian Justice Ministry delegation led by Selakovic will also meet with Deputy Supreme State Prosecutor Veselin Vuckovic, and with President of the Notary Chamber of Montenegro Branislav Vukicevic, with whom they will visit a notary office in Podgorica.
