Dacic: Ambassadors to be appointed by end of July

BELGRADE - Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated on Wednesday that he expects the government to appoint Serbia's ambassadors in ten countries by the end of July.

The procedures for ambassador appointment are underway and the government should adopt the decisions on appointments by the end of the month, Dacic told a regular press conference in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He did not wish to reveal the identity of future ambassadors of Serbia and instead said that the names have already been listed but are not ready for publication yet.

Speaking about the diplomatic activities in July, Dacic said that Bulgarian Foreign Minister Kristian Ivanov Vigenin would visit Belgrade on Thursday and added that their talks will focus on bilateral relations, strengthening of cooperation and Sofia's support to Serbia's EU path.

Dacic also noted that the state secretary for European affairs in the Portuguese Foreign Ministry would visit Belgrade, July 3-6.

Japanese Minister for Removal of Consequences of Natural Disasters Yasutoshi Nishimura will visit Serbia, July 8-10. Nishimura will come to Serbia to learn more about the situation in the country following the catastrophic floods, and he will visit Obrenovac and Kolubara coal seams, Dacic said.

Foreign ministers of Western Balkan countries will gather in Kotor, Montenegro, on July 10, and the meeting will be attended by European Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele and Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council Goran Svilanovic.
