Serbia in Great War exhibition opens

BELGRADE - The exhibition Serbia in the Great War, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, was opened at Dom Vojske Srbije in Belgrade on Wednesday.

The exhibition covers 18 themes in chronological order and includes 270 documents and photos to help understand the topic and offer new insights into World War One.

The event was organised through cooperation between the Military Archive, Pozarevac Historical Archive, Military Museum, Radio and Television of Serbia Programme Museum and Media Centre Odbrana.

State Secretary for Defence Zoran Djordjevic opened the exhibition by stressing that it was one of around 60 events organised by the Defence Ministry and the Armed Forces to preserve the memory of great deeds done by famous Serbian figures from that time.

The exhibits point out the causes, perpetrators and victims of the war while covering the most important events in chronological order, Djordjevic noted.

Head of the Prozarevac Historical Archive Jasmina Nikolic said the goal of the exhibition and its authors was to once again point out the terrible influence of a political revision of history.

Chief of the General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic, officials of the Defence Ministry, Armed Forces and many other visitors attended the opening.

The exhibition will be open until July 26.
