*President Traian Basescu on Thursday signed the decree on the promulgation of the Law amending and completing Government Ordinance No 29/1997 on the Civil Airspace Code. The law is aimed at regulating the amendment and completion of the Government Ordinance No 29/1997 on the Civil Airspace Code, republished, with the subsequent amendments and completions, to allow the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) or drones, as they are also known, in the national airspace.

*Romanian retail trade rose by 10.3 percent in May as compared to the same month a year ago, this being the second-highest increase recorded by a European Union member after Luxembourg (16.7 pct), show figures released by the European Union statistical office (Eurostat) on Thursday. In May 2014 compared with April 2014, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade remained stable in the euro area and fell by 0.1 percent in the EU 28, with Romania posting the second-highest increase in the EU at 1.9 percent.

*The Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) condemned the assassination of a Palestinian teenager on July 1, in Jerusalem, as a possible act of retaliation for the kidnapping and murdering of three young Israelis on June 12, in the West Bank, according to a press release issued on Thursday for AGERPRES. The Ministry sent its condolences to the bereaved family and expresses solidarity with the Palestinian people.

*Romania's Senate has approved on Thursday the bill on ratifying the Agreement Association between the European Union and the European Community of Atomic Energy and their member states, on one hand, and the Republic of Moldova, on the other hand, signed on June 27, 2014, with 122 votes for, none against and no abstentions.
