Gas prices in Serbia to go up from August 1

BELGRADE - Household gas bills in Serbia will be higher by 1.1 to 1.3 percent, or RSD 45.4 per cubic meter on average, starting with August 1, while other consumers will pay 1.1 to 1.4 percent or RSD 42.3 per cubic meter more, VAT excluded, the Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia (AERS) said in a release.

The AERS Council gave its approval for the new prices of natural gas taking effect from August 1 for all 33 public suppliers.

Based on the average annual gas consumption per household, which was 873 cubic meters in 2012, the new prices will push the average annual gas bill to around RSD 44,000 including VAT.

The price of access to the natural gas distribution network, which is included in end consumer bills, has not been changed, so the new public supply prices reflect only the accumulated changes to the real costs of gas imports and domestic production since December 2013, when gas prices were lowered.

The regulated gas price is modified in case of changes to import prices and the ratio of imported to domestic gas, and harmonized with changes to the 15-day average US dollar exchange rate, the AERS release states.
