Israel’s mentality 'no different from Hitler’s': Turkish PM Erdoğan

Israel’s approach to the Palestinians is no different to the mentality of Adolf Hitler, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, accusing Israel of committing “systematic atrocity and state terror” against the Palestinians since 1948.

While he welcomed Egypt’s initiative for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, Erdoğan said a ceasefire was not enough and stressed that Israel should “immediately lift the illegal embargo on Palestine.”

 â€œWhat Israel has been using in Gaza since last week is not explainable. Israel continues to terrorize. Moving beyond individual terrorism, it’s now committing state terror,” he said, speaking in his weekly address to his parliamentary group on July 15.

Recalling Egypt’s move to broker a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, Erdoğan expressed his hope for a deal that would avoid the killings of innocent Palestinian children in what he described as “the dirty politics of the Middle East.”

He also slammed the international community for what he described as “inaction” to stop Israel’s military offensive, saying the Western world and the international community had “ignored the Palestinian tragedy since 1948” and criticizing the U.S. for not pushing harder to implement a two-state solution.

“No country in the world, except Turkey, can stand against Israel’s attacks and urge it to stop. I recall, once again, that those who commit brutalities will sooner or later pay the price,” Erdoğan said.
