Serbian minister confers with Greek official

BRUSSELS - Serbian minister without portfolio responsible for European integration Jadranka Joksimovic conferred with Greece's deputy foreign minister in charge of European affairs Dimitris Kourkoulas on the margins of the donors' conference in Brussels.

Joksimovic and Kourkoulas discussed the course of Serbia's EU integration, the progress achieved in the EU accession talks and Serbia's efforts to start opening negotiation chapters as soon as possible.

Minister Joksimovic said that Serbia prepared its negotiating position on Chapter 32 (on public finance control), and that it is ready for the talks to commence.

Joksimovic also informed Kourkoulas about the process of drafting and passing reform laws in the areas of finance and bankruptcy, as well as about changes to the Labor Law and pension insurance, stressing that the new regulations are aimed to attract foreign investors, reduce the budget deficit and facilitate employment.

Kourkoulas expressed his support to Serbia's EU integration and underlined the importance of drawing foreign investment and reform of the economic policy.

The two officials specifically pointed to the significance and potential for further cooperation between Serbia and Greece, particularly in the area of transport infrastructure development.
