Chairman of the People's Movement Foundation (FMP) Cristian Diaconescu has expressed, on Friday, his compassion and has sent his condolences to the families of the victims of the airliner crash that occurred yesterday in Ukraine, as well as to the states of origin of the citizens that were on the plane.

"There are a great deal of unclear aspects in relation to this incident. From this point of view, both sides — both Ukraine, as well as the Russian Federation — must ensure the support of an international team that should be formed from representatives of the states whose citizens have fallen victim to this incident, of the EU and of the Northern Atlantic Alliance. It is a guarantee of independence and balance in what regards technical aspects relating to this incident, absolutely necessary in defining a political decision regarding responsibilities", said the FMP chairman in a press conference.

He said that the authorities in Bucharest must focus on an evaluation that is "as clear as can be regarding the situation near Romania's border and possible security developments", mentioning that there is no direct threat to Romania's security at this moment, but, "in the proximity of a possible conflict, the authorities in Bucharest must have answers even for an unpredictable situation".
