ForMin Corlatean to participate in Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels

Romania's Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean will participate in a Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting on Tuesday, where the current situation in the region will be discussed, as well as the fact that a Malaysian Airlines aircraft was downed on Ukraine's soil, at the border with the Russian Federation.

According to Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE), a main topic on the Foreign Affairs Council meeting will be the situation in Ukraine, with emphasis on the latest developments in the territory, including the Malaysian Airlines aircraft downing and the undergoing political processes. Moreover, there will be an opinion exchange on the Iraq crisis, the security situation in the region and the diplomatic measures for calming the conflict.

During the meeting, the EU foreign ministers will also assess the latest developments in the Middle East, with a focus on the EU's role and possible actions.

After the FAC meeting, the EU foreign ministers, together with those of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) member states, will participate in an EaP ministerial meeting, where the ministers will discuss action guidlines for after the signing on June 27, 2014, of association agreements between the EU and Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.
