Policeman saves bather in western Greece

A policeman on Wednesday saved a 75-year-old bather who had become stranded some 300 meters out to sea in western Greece.

Other bathers at the beach in Vonitsa called police when they spotted the man.

A 25-year-old officer who arrived at the beach swam out to help him.

The pensioner was described as being in a semi-comatose state when the policeman reached him.
