Codrin Scutaru says vilification of Romanian community in Spain must be firmly discouraged by both states' authorities

Secretary of State with the Labour Ministry Codrin Scutaru on Friday said that the gestures by some xenophobe groups of vilifying the Romanian community in Spain must be firmly discouraged by the Romanian and Spanish authorities.

'I am currently in Spain, in Madrid, attending the International Forum for Public Employment Policies, where I also had meetings with Romanians living here. The position of the Romanian community concerning that defamatory video about the Romanians of Spain, released on YouTube, is very clear: Spain is one the most tolerant countries, for which solidarity and the observance of the European citizens' right to free movement are extremely important values. The gestures of some xenophobe groups of vilifying the Romanian community in Spain must be firmly discouraged by the Romanian and Spanish authorities, as well as by the public opinion of both countries,' Scutaru says in a press release remitted to AGERPRES on Friday.

Since a few days now, a so called parody clip is circulated on YouTube titled 'Soy un rumano en Madrid' (I am a Romanian in Madrid), claiming that Romanians are nomads, thieves, prostitutes, sing 'manele' and come to Spain with their entire family to get rich. AGERPRES
