Pake, Joksimovic discuss economic reforms on road to EU

BELGRADE - Jean-Eric Paquet, director for Albania, Serbia, BiH and Kosovo at the European Commission (EC) Directorate-General for Enlargement, has said during a meeting with Serbia’s Minister without Portfolio responsible for European integration Jadranka Joksimovic that improving the economic climate and employment and strengthening competitiveness will be among the most important criteria in accession negotiations.

Joksimovic informed Paquet about the process of structural economic reforms being implemented in Serbia and plans on how to improve the business climate, the government’s media relations office said in a release on Wednesday.

The two officials said today that the objectives were fully consistent with the concept of economic governance promoted by the EU.

Joksimovic and Paquet agreed that it was vital to find a way in which the EU and other international financial institutions can help Serbia achieve the goals, the release said.
