Rozalia Biro: Yardstick for a human's worth are the results left behind, not mistakes

Senator of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Rozalia Biro on Monday told AGERPRES that "even after having completed Romanian-language college and postgraduate studies, anyone could make a faux pas like she did"; Biro's blunder drew President Traian Basescu's biting criticism as to her understanding of Romanian.

Commenting on the President's statements this Friday, Biro said that "a human's worth is not given by his mistakes."

"I made a mistake, just like anyone could make in life. Even after completing Romanian-language college and postgraduate studies, this can happen to anyone and I am sure a human's worth is not given by his mistakes but by the results he leaves behind," said Rozalia Biro.

The UDMR Senator said she hopes she will be able to fill the positions vacated by UDMR Chairman Kelemen Hunor "and be a good Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture."

According to her official resume, Rozalia Biro graduated from the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca with a degree in Economy of Industry, Constructions and Transport, and completed also postgraduate studies of "Competitive Management" at the Open University Business School.

President Traian Basescu said on Friday that Claudiu Manda's nomination for Minister-delegate for the Budget and that of Rozalia Biro for Minister of Culture are inappropriate.

President Basescu voiced appreciation for other ministers backed by UDMR, like Marko Bela or Kelemen Hunor.

In the President's opinion, the Ministry of Culture, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are among the most sensitive portfolios, having a strong and stable component of representativeness of the Romanian culture, but also a strong note of Romanism. In this...
