Conference of Western Balkan States in Berlin on August 28

BERLIN - A conference on economic potentials and prospects of the Western Balkans will be held in Berlin on August 28, at the initiative of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The main motto of the conference is “Through trade, investment and regional cooperation to new dynamics” and the organizers are the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce.

The aim of the meeting is to have the German ministry informed about economic potentials and prospects of the Western Balkans.

The Western Balkan countries are not only increasingly adopting European standards. Geopolitically speaking, they are taking on a central role in the European energy and traffic projects, the German ministry has said on its website.

The conference will bring together ministers of economy and political representatives from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia, and will be opened by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel.

The participants in the conference will be meeting in two panels, discussing economic cooperation in the region in the fields of energy, technology and infrastructure and ways to improve prospects for employment, middle class and investment.
