Caretaker Foreign Minister Meets New German Ambassador to Bulgaria

Caretaker Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has described Germany as an important economic and strategic partner at a meeting with the new German Ambassador to Bulgaria.

Speaking at the first protocol meeting with Detlef Lingeman, the newly appointed German Ambassador to Bulgaria, he said that the two countries enjoyed good relations and expressed willingness for cooperation for their enhancement and expansion.

Lingemann said that many Bulgarian nationals were living and working in Germany and the country was very appreciative of their contribution to its economy.

The envoy noted that Germany was the biggest trade partner of Bulgaria, adding that there was untapped potential in the sphere of investments.

The two discussed the priority goals which were on the agenda of Bulgaria's caretaker government.

The meeting revolved around topics such as the nomination of Kristalina Georgieva, former EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, for High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security.

Mitov noted that Georgieva had done a great job during her term in office as EU Commissioner in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response and she deserve a high mark for her performance.

He also underscored that she was a well-known name on a global scale and was well-versed in international affairs outside Europe.

The organization of the October 5 early elections overseas as a key task of the Foreign Ministry during the term in office of the caretaker government was also among the topics of Tuesday's meeting.

Mitov emphasized the commitment of the caretaker government to provide the necessary conditions for the Bulgarians living abroad...
