Vucic: Rebuilding goes according to plan

OBRENOVAC - The restoration and rebuilding of flood-damaged houses goes according to plan, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Tuesday in the Belgrade municipality of Obrenovac, one of the areas worst affected by the May floods.

Visiting a construction site in Obrenovac where preparatory works are under way, Vucic said that the funds for house-building projects must be transferred no later than nine or ten days after the decision on funding approval becomes valid.

Around 2,500 funding approval decisions have been issued so far and around 200 new project applications are filed every day, said the prime minister, noting that only 56 out of the 2,500 i.e. under 2 percent of the decisions were appealed.

The average amount paid for house restoration or construction will total around RSD 350,000, which is the maximum that the state can allocate at this point, he said.
A total of 62 new houses will be built in Obrenovac and all its residents will have a roof over their heads as planned. The construction will be funded by UAE, Kuwait, EU and other donors, and all relevant procedures will be followed, said Vucic.
