Mexican poet Deltoro wins Novi Sad Literary Award

NOVI SAD - Mexican poet Antonio Deltoro, aged 67, is the winner of this year's International Literary Award of Novi Sad delivered by the International Novi Sad Literature Festival (MNKF) for the ninth year in a row, the festival organisers released on Thursday.

Deltoro is one of the prominent contemporary literary authors from Mexico and his literary contribution is exerting its full-scale impact now, Chair of the MNKF Programme Board Jovan Zivlak told Tanjug.

Deltoro is the author of ten books and the winner of most important Mexican literary awards. His works have been translated in the countries on the Old Continent and he appeared as the guest of literary festivals worldwide, Zivlak said.

The award will be delivered to Deltoro on August 27 during the festival which will be held at several locations in Novi Sad from August 25 to 29.

The literary authors who won the International Literary Award of Novi Sad in the previous years include Christoph Meckel (Germany), Jean-Pierre Faye (France), Ben Okri (Nigeria), Sean O'Brien (Great Britain), Lyubomir Levchev (Bulgaria), Kathrin Schmidt (Germany), Krzysztof Karasek (Poland) and Mircea Cartarescu (Romania).
