Vucic arrives in Berlin, meets Mueller

BERLIN - Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic arrived in Berlin on Wednesday and met with Germany's Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Mueller.

This is a key address and the meeting with Mueller was extremely important for Serbia, Vucic told reporters after the meeting.

The two discussed grants and soft loans that Germany plans to give Serbia by the end of the year, which total EUR 140 million. Other topics included energy, utilities and agriculture.

Vucic said he had asked Mueller for support for youth education and entrepreneurship development projects.

"We boasted about the drop in unemployment in Serbia... However, young people are still a problem for us. We are looking for solutions to change the education system so young people would be prepared for work in schools. We need Germany's help with that," Vucic stated.

He invited Mueller to visit Serbia, which the other accepted, but no date was set.

Vucic will meet with World Bank officials later in the day.

Berlin will host a conference on the Western Balkans on August 28.
