Dacic: Serbia supports dialogue, no lectures from Kosovo

BELGRADE, NEW YORK – Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said that Belgrade is ready to continue the dialogue with Pristina, and stressed that Kosovo is in no position to lecture anyone on international law.

Dacic told Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS) that the incident at the UN Security Council meeting on Friday, when Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hodzaj accused Serbia of participating in the aggression on Ukraine, is a diplomatic scandal without precedent.

Hodzaj said that Russia is invading the east of Ukraine, and condemned Serbia for the support of some Serbian citizens to pro-Russian activist groups in east Ukraine which, as he said, constitutes a violation of the international law.

I responded quite sharply, noting that Kosovo is no position to lecture anyone on international law, as the unilateral proclamation of independence of Kosovo, without any agreement with Serbia, is a true example of a violation of the international law, said Dacic.

The Serbian minister stressed that Serbia is not taking part in any acts of aggression anywhere in the world.

He noted that certain Serbian citizens of Muslim faith are participating in jihad organizations in Syria and Iraq, which Serbia strongly condemns, and also that there are volunteers from Serbia fighting on the side of the pro-Russian forces and on the side of Ukraine.

Dacic also pointed to the number of individuals from Kosovo taking part in terrorist operations in Syria, Iraq and other countries.
