Li Keqiang on 65th China-Romania relations anniversary: Fresh starting point to deeper bilateral trust

AGERPRES special correspondent Daniel Florea reports: Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang said at the end of a meeting with visiting Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta with the two official delegations also attending that the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Romania represent 'a fresh starting point' to deepening the bilateral trust and to capitalising on the potential of the Romanian-Chinese bilateral exchanges and cooperation in such sectors as energy, infrastructure and agriculture.

'We jointly consider that, during more than half a century, no matter what the changes of the international situation and of the internal situation of either country /.../ the Romanian-Chinese friendship has remained unflagging and it has even become firmer over time. This year we celebrate 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Romania. We shall, from this fresh starting point, advance towards consolidating and deepening the bilateral trust and we want to capitalise on the potential of the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all areas and have fruitful and substantial results. We jointly consider that the two countries should take the opportunities in such sectors as energy, infrastructure and agriculture. Today, me and Prime Minister Ponta have witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements and we hope we may thus extend the collaboration between our two countries and have concrete results', the Chinese premier said.

Li called Ponta 'the older and younger friend of China', as he stressed Ponta had paid several visits to the People's Republic of China over the years.
