Deloitte: Ten companies from Serbia among CE Top 500

BELGRADE - Ten companies from Serbia appeared on this year's list of Top 500 companies from Central Europe (CE), based on their sales revenues in 2013, the best ranked companies being the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) and Fiat Automobiles of Serbia, the audit and consulting company Deloitte announced on Wednesday.

The number of Serbian companies in Deloitte's CE Top 500 went up from last year's 8 to 10, with NIS as the best ranked since it holds the admirable 63rd spot, as it made revenues of EUR 2.29 billion in 2013.

NIS upped his position in comparison to the previous list, when it held 78th place.

The second best-ranked Serbian company is EPS, which earned 85th spot, while Fiat Automobiles of Serbia, which appeared on the list for the first time, took 115th place.

The next Serbian company in Deloitte's CE Top 500 is the supermarket chain Delhaize Serbia, which holds 228th place, and then EFT Investments, an electricity trading firm owned by Vuk Hamovic, which was ranked 261st.

The sixth company from Serbia on this year's list of Top 500 companies from Central Europe is Srbijagas, holding 387th place, Tarkett Backa Palanka -418th, supermarket chains Mercator-S -427th, and Idea Belgrade- 490th.

In the insurance industry, Dunav Osiguranje secured the best position- earning 50th place on the list of 50 leading insurance companies in Central Europe.

When considering the region, this year's Deloitte list contains a total of 42 companies from Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The best company in this part of Europe is again Poland's PKN Orlen, as was the case in 2013.
