Slovakian ambassador hosts reception for Constitution Day

BELGRADE - Slovakian Ambassador to Serbia Jan Varso hosted on Thursday a reception to mark Slovakia's Constitution Day and Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic and presidential adviser Oliver Antic were among the guests.

The relations between Serbia and Slovakia have always been good and friendly, Varso said addressing the guests after the two nation's anthems were played.

It was confirmed during Slovakia's Prime MInister Robert Fic's visit to Belgrade in January this year, when he symbolically presented the keys to the EU, as well as during the May visit by Deputy Prime minister and Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, he noted.

Slovakia has shown great solidarity with the Serbian people hit by the May floods and sent EUR 330,000 in financial aid, the Slovakian ambassador pointed out.

The Slovakian national minority in Serbia has existed for more than 260 years and has integrated itself well, he stated, adding that the fact made him proud.

A large number of diplomats, religious officials and political, cultural and public figures attended the reception at the Slovakian embassy.
