Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, are expecting their second child, the Royal Family announced on Monday.

The Clarence House office broke the news on Twitter saying: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.", the BBC reports.

The baby announcement comes two months after the couple's first child, Prince George, had his first birthday.

As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace for her severe morning sickness.

Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: "Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I'm delighted by the happy news that they're expecting another baby."

The new baby will become fourth in line to the throne, pushing Prince Harry to fifth. Toddler Prince George is third and likely to become Britain's monarch one day.
