Kocijancic: No comment on Milosevic's property

BRUSSELS- Spokesperson of the high EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy Maja Kocijancic refused on Thursday to comment on media reports according to which High EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton decided to unfreeze the property of late Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic, his family and close associates.

European sanctions are being constantly revised, the spokesperson told Tanjug and added that she has nothing more to say.

The Belgrade-based daily Kurir reported in its Thursday edition that Ashton adopted the decision to unfreeze the property of Slobodan Milosevic, his wife Mira Markovic and their son Marko, as well as the assets of former Serbian president Milan Milutinovic and a number of other officials who were active in the Serbian government during the '90s.

The property and the country's EU accession were frozen as part of the international sanctions introduced against Serbia in the '90s. Milosevic died in the detention unit of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia in 2004, before the conclusion of proceedings against him.

Tanjug learnt from unofficial sources that the information reported by Kurir is tru.
