Regional countries join hands to resolve missing persons issue

The leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro work together to resolve the issue of missing persons.

The recent co-operation by four southeast European countries to resolve the common issue of missing persons was lauded by the international community. Twenty years after the end of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia, about 11,000 persons are still classified as missing. In an effort to resolve this issue, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Montenegro, Serbia and Croatia recently signed a joint declaration to define the role of the state in the search for those believed to be missing from armed conflicts and violations of human rights.
