Serbia's delegation to partake in IAEA conference in Vienna

BELGRADE - Serbia's delegation will take part in the 58th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is to open in Vienna on Monday, during which participant countries will discuss cooperation and sign several agreements.

As the Serbian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency has stated, the Serbian delegation will be headed by Aleksandar Belic, state secretary at the ministry of education, science and technological development, and comprise representatives of the agency.

The conference is expected to bring together delegates from 165 member states, and Serbia's representatives will meet delegations from other countries from the region to discuss ways to improve cooperation, reach multilateral and bilateral agreements on cooperation and exchange of information in the field of radiation and nuclear safety, and special issues in the field.

The Serbian delegation will also have talks with partners and associates from certain IAEA departments to address technical cooperation and practical matters arising from it.

During the IAEA General Conference, which will take place until September 26, other, parallel activities, forums, initiatives, bilateral and multilateral meetings will be held on various topics.

A scientific forum will be convened in conjunction with the 58th General Conference - entitled "Radioactive Waste: Meeting the Challenge - Science and Technology for Safe and Sustainable Solutions".
